Arroyos Park spans eight acres, but its inspiration stretches across the state.
Rather than designing one large clubhouse, COLTON looked to some of the places and structures that have helped shape Texas communities for generations. The result is a collection of buildings with different personalities and purposes, all connected by a distinctly Texas point of view.
W. Blakley Hall, the park’s future event hall, takes its cues from Rihn’s Grocery in LaCoste, a longtime gathering place where generations once came together for dances, domino games and time with neighbors. Reclaimed hardwood floors reminiscent of old Texas dance halls, Spanish tile, breeze block walls and painted brick will help bring that character into a new generation of gatherings at COLTON.
Just steps away, The Welcome Inn was inspired by the Texas Theatre in Bronte. With an indoor lounge and patio overlooking the event lawn, it will give residents a place to meet up, work remotely or stay awhile, while also serving as home base for COLTON’s Lifestyle Team.
Then there is The Iron Yard, COLTON’s resident fitness center, where inspiration travels north to the Texas & Pacific Railway Terminal in Fort Worth. Large windows, a dedicated exercise classroom and outdoor green space will create a setting designed to make movement part of everyday life.
Even the park’s HOA building tells a Texas story. Inspired by Central Machine Works in East Austin, two structures connected by a traditional dogtrot breezeway will house COLTON’s onsite HOA team.

The Texas Details Don’t Stop at the Door
Some of Arroyos Park’s best details can be found outside the buildings.
The Lookout, one of three distinct play areas, draws inspiration from the fire watch towers that once stood high above the forests of East Texas. Nearby, a toddler play area and FitCore Ninja Course will give different ages their own ways to climb, play and burn off a little Texas-sized energy.
At Das Garten, the entry plaza between W. Blakley Hall and The Welcome Inn, a Spanish Colonial-style fountain will greet residents, while a nearby fire pit takes its cues from a famous Hill Country barbecue mecca. We can’t say exactly which one, but the feeling will be familiar: friends and neighbors gathered around the fire, with the sights and sounds of the amphitheater and park just beyond. Located next to The Welcome Inn, it’s the kind of spot made for staying awhile.
Look a little closer and the references continue. Repurposed propane tanks become planters. Drill stem pipe inspired by Texas’ oil and gas heritage becomes street sign poles. Natural materials, native plantings and shaded spaces help the park settle into the surrounding landscape rather than compete with it.
It is the kind of design that feels right at home in COLTON because the same philosophy extends throughout the community: look to Texas, take inspiration from what makes it special and give it a fresh point of view.
Eight Acres. Plenty of Ways to Spend Them.
Of course, Arroyos Park is meant to be lived in, not simply looked at.
The eight-acre park will bring together W. Blakley Hall, The Welcome Inn and The Iron Yard with an event lawn and amphitheater, splash pad, playgrounds, picnic and shaded gathering areas, micro disc golf course and putting green. It’s all designed to give residents more ways to enjoy time close to home, whether that means catching the sights and sounds of an event from around the fire pit, meeting friends at the park, fitting in a morning workout or simply finding a shady spot to stay awhile.
The park will also connect into COLTON’s larger outdoor network. Phase 1 includes more than 186 acres of recreational amenities and green space, along with miles of 10-foot-wide hike-and-bike trails and walking paths connecting residents to more of the community around them.
And Arroyos Park is just the beginning. As COLTON continues to grow across its 5,700 acres, additional parks, amenities and gathering spaces will grow along with it, creating even more ways for residents to get outside, gather, move, play and connect close to home.
For the more than 240 households calling COLTON home, the progress at Arroyos Park means something that was once seen only in renderings is becoming real.
